Best pies in London

Posted by Andrea Zanin on 12 September 2011

Yo ho ho, how ‘bout a piping hot pasty? Rum’s overrated anyway – okay, perhaps not but West Cornwall Pasties are just as intoxicating.

As the best on-the-go food ever, West Cornwall Pasty pie shops populate London’s major train stations and command the stomachs of those walking in breathing distance of the pies’ hypnotic aroma.

Steak & Stilton is a must, as is the Steak & Ale variant, but the Pork & Apple, Chicken & Mushroom, Traditional and Salmon pies are just as yummy. There are also vegie options including Vegetable Provencal, Cheesy Tomato & Basil and Wholemeal Vegetable. Whatever pie you choose, most importantly, it must be chugged down with a side of chunky potato wedges.

Hand-made in Cornwall (the home of the pasty) and freshly baked each day, the pies comfort the craving and soothe the soul – what more could a hungry traveller ask for?
